Eagle Dance - October 9,
2010
Dancing On the Edge will be
hosting an Eagle Dance on October 9th at Camp Gaea. If you are interested
in participating, let me know. All dancers are welcome and we need
individuals to help as Dog Soldiers, vendor table help, etc. Preparation is needed in order to dance so if you are not a current or past student, please contact Phyllis for information on how to create your shield and to get additional information. 816-353-2691 or pcronbaugh@sbcglobal.net. We will be dancing in the area of Grover's Glen around an amazing tree that has to be over a hundred years old. Amazing energy. Camp Gaea is located at 25210 235th St, McLouth, KS 66054 (near Tonganoxi). The Camp Gaea site is www.campgaea.org. 913-796-2141. Here is a description of what you can expect. As the ancestral drums come alive and merge with the heartbeat of Grandmother Earth, voices echo songs that have been sung since creation. Dancers in bright-colored ceremonial attire feel the call, take their own power, and rhythmically emerge from all eight directions of the medicine-wheel arbor. The Eagle’s piercing call resonates as the participants ride the hypnotic beat, praying and moving toward the incredible essence of the Tree of Life. The arbor is alive. It pulsates, inhaling and exhaling as the ceremony progresses. Prayers soar on the wings of the Eagle to the Great Mystery and answers spiral back to the Dancers. The energy ebbs and flows as the day wears on, but the pulse never weakens. Finally, the DanceChief announces, “This Dance is finished in Beauty.”
Eagle Dances are most generally personal dances, where Sun Dances are more
for the collective and Grandmother’s planetary dream. Dancing inwards, a
prayer may be offered for personal health, prosperity, and abundance, for
a sacred dream, or anything of your choosing. Moving away from the Tree,
but never turning his or her back to it, the Dancer visualizes and
celebrates the manifestation of their prayers. With roots reaching deep
into the Earth, the Tree gives participants the strength and stamina
needed to dance impeccably. The branches, stretching to the As Above,
inspire lofty dreams, and keep the connecting link to intent powerful and
strong and streaming into the Earth below. On and on it continues as it
has since time began. It is a magickal event, facilitating the dreams of
all to be danced awake. |

Crystal Dig Hopefully a date will be set for 2010. If you have an interest in going, give us a call and maybe you will help us get the ball rolling. We normally leave on Thursday morning and returning on Sunday afternoon. We should be digging at Ron Colman's in Jessieville, AR and staying at Quachita River Haven Resort in Pencilville. We don't plan to change much from the way Debbi ran things, except you will have to eat Phyllis' cooking. There will be kids going, but they will be staying separate from any other adults that are going. Here's to finding a crystal like the one to the left.
