What to Expect on a Trip!

Join us for crystal digging in the luxury of the Ouachita River Haven cabins. Camping is available on the campgrounds.

We normally carpool and leave by 8 am on Thursday. We stop for lunch arrive at the cabins late afternoon. Breakfast is served Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings in the main cabin. We usually have lunch at the Coleman Campground on Friday and possibly on Saturday if enough people choose to dig a second day.
Evening soup or chili dinners are served at the cabins on Friday and Saturday evenings. A package price usually includes a total of eight meals. We head head back to Kansas City by 10 am on Sunday and arrive in KC late afternoon. Stopping for lunch makes the trip about six to seven hours.

After breakfast on Fridays, we carpool over to the mine for digging and enjoy a special trip to the warehouse to view and purchase some exquisite crystals. At the end of the day we head back to the cabins. Some people choose to spend another day digging on Saturday, go over to Hot Springs and enjoy one of the numerous spas, head out on the river and go canoeing, or just relax and veg by the river or hike in the woods. We normally drum, sing and have smores each evening around the campfire after dinner.

Kids are welcome and the plan is to have families with kids staying in the main cabin with adults only in others. Here's some pictures from previous trips. Click on the pictures for larger images and use your BACK button to return here.
